GENERAL RULES FOR 2021-22  SEASON

All matches must be played on Friday evenings, unless pre arranged in advance. A league match consists of 6 games of singles & 3 games of pairs. All singles are best of 5 legs in division 1 and best of 3 legs in all other divisions (division 2 will play all 3 legs in both singles & pairs with 1 point being awarded per leg won), pairs best of 3 legs in all divisions. All legs are 501 straight in, double out. Bust rule applies.

PLAYING OF MATCHES

Teams must arrive at venue by 8.30 and play to start by 8.45. Reserve players can only be named and entered on result card before start of play. If a player fails to arrive by the time of their game then a named reserve may replace them. The order of play for singles to be determined by a blind draw, pairs at discretion of captain. Away team throws first in legs 1 & 3 of odd matches and home team in the even matches.

The home team chalks and the away team may provide a checker if they desire. When an electronic scoreboard is used please ensure the chalker knows how to use the machine, an alternative method of chalking must be available in the event of a breakdown or if requested by the away team.

The throwing distance and board must be of a BDO standard and ruling. Boards must be well lit and in a good condition (a matchboard is required, not the practice board in use at the venue at all other times). All throws must be equipped with a fixed oche. If you are not happy with a throw or board, please contact the committee who will investigate on your behalf.

POSTPONED/CANCELLED MATCHES

There will be no cancelled matches. If a match is not played then the offending team receive 0 points and the opposition receive their average points at the end of the season (minimum of 5 points will be awarded). Matches can be mutually arranged to be played prior to the original fixture date (please advise secretary if this happens). Matches can be won with 4 players, but may be played with less rather than receiving 0 points.

If a match is cancelled less than 24 hours before it is due to be played then a £10 fine may be imposed on the offending team to cover cost of any food costs. If a fine is still outstanding at the end of the season then that team or individual team members may be suspended for the following season until fine has been paid. Any team repeatedly cancelling matches may be removed from the league.

Any team forfeiting a prelim or 1st round knockout match, will be excluded from the plate competition for that season.

Any disputes regarding matters arising from a match must be put in writing to either the Chairman or the Secretary within 48 hours of the dispute arising. The committee will then meet at the earliest opportunity to arbitrate on the matter, players and captains may be asked to attend the meeting if the committee feel this is necessary. The committees decision will be final, however, it is hoped that any disputes can be resolved on the night by the teams involved.
